Distinguishing Characteristics

• Opposite leaves not clustered. Tiny white or pinkish flowers are generally sessile, but the pedicels can elongate when in fruit. Sepals without spines on their tips.

Habitat(s)

• Vernal pools and other seasonal wetlands.

Additional Information

• Native. Also occurs north to Alaska, in the eastern United States, Mexico and northern Europe.
