Distinguishing Characteristics

• Orange stringy stuff. Parasitizes many vernal pool plants. Later in the season, it blooms within the flower heads of other vernal pool species such as Erynguim (see last photo).

Habitat(s)

• Vernal pools.

Additional Information

• Native. Endemic to California vernal pools. Uncommon.
   
• Flowering time: June-August.
