Distinguishing Characteristics

• Pretty much the only emergent vegetation in vernal pools at Mather. Compare aquatic form with Eryngium castrense.

• Vernal pools, seasonal wetlands, and marshes.

• Native. Occurs throughout the temperate and montane western hemisphere.
